Nora had always wanted to create her own work, and time out during covid allowed her to do so. This exhibition slot was available in the Ballina Arts Centre and with the assistance of the then curator Sean Walsh, it afforded Nora the opportunity to exhibit. Knowing her sister’s style of work, inviting Christine to join her was a natural step.

“Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time”

An exhibition by Nora Cawley Giblin and Christine Cawley Kilcullen
Opened: 22nd October 2022, Ballina Arts Centre

This joint exhibition by sisters Nora Cawley Giblin and Christine Cawley Kilcullen celebrated their shared love of nature, expressed through painting, drawing, embroidery, weaving, and mixed media. Nora, a retired art teacher, explored rich colours and textures through varied techniques, while Christine, a graphic designer and illustrator, focused on intricate detail in pen, pencil, watercolour, and acrylics.

Encouraged in their artistic pursuits by supportive parents with rural roots, both artists drew inspiration from the tranquility of their surroundings. Developed during the Covid pandemic, the works reflected a renewed awareness of land and sea.

The exhibition invited visitors to pause, reflect, and enjoy a sense of calm, with selected works also available as limited-edition giclée prints.
