Anna Spearman, originally from Dublin is based in County Sligo. She holds a BA in Fine Art from ATU Sligo and an MA in Fine Art:Contemporary Practice from Falmouth University. Anna has taken part in numerous residencies most recently in The Dock, Leitrim Sculpture Centre and the Scottish Sculpture Centre. She is represented in the Arts Council collection. This work has been supported by a visual arts bursary from Leitrim County Council.
This new body of work includes painting, painted objects and animations that have emerged from the artist’s ongoing research into paint both as material and process. The work is abstract in nature and is inspired by all manner of visual and sensory information encountered on a daily basis. A playful and intuitive approach to making allows for open ended and sometimes surprising outcomes.
