About the Intensive:

In this intense week of dance, participants will undertake a daily dance class while being supported to explore their own movement and generate material through a variety of creative tasks. Supported by Oran as choreographer and director, they will build a short dance piece within 5 days. It’s called a Dance Intensive for a reason! This unique opportunity will expand your understanding of dance concepts and creativity, give insight to the life of a professional dance career and is guaranteed sweaty fun! Open to males and females, previous dance experience is helpful but not compulsory – just a willingness to move in new ways. Participants must commit to the full 5 days so as not to disrupt the creative process for the group. Sign Up via the Google Form link here: https://forms.gle/ZBcLjptfJy3z31Hq9

Oran was a three-times World Irish dance champion before he started his pro dance career at the unusual age of 26. He works in the genres of traditional Irish, contemporary and aerial dance, in companies and independently. He has appeared on TV, in film and has been funded by Arts Council Ireland through multiple awards. Currently the resident dance artist at Ballina Arts Centre, he also plans to work with local youths to explore movement concepts and develop a short piece for a friends and family sharing at the end of the Dance Intensive.
