Solas Quartet

March 8 @ 8:00 pm 10:00 pm

Tickets: Full €18 – Concession €16

Second national tour

For their second national tour, the Solas Quartet has put together an exciting and eclectic programme.  Young Dublin-based Rohan Harron’s Psychotia is followed by two Purcell fantasies then a third by 20th century composer Frank Bridge.  Jessie Montgomery’s Strum is an ecstatic celebration of American folk, and the night ends with Dvořák’s magnificent Quartet in A flat.

Violinist Katherine Hunka is leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and artistic director of Killaloe Music Festival. Violinist Marja Gaynor also arranges music for strings, and her credits include Oscar-winning song “Falling Slowly” from the movie Once. Cian Ó Dúill, viola player, is in the Irish Chamber Orchestra and works with the London Symphony Orchestra. Cellist Aoife Nic Athlaoich has recorded with the ICO and broadcast live from Carnegie Hall, the BBC Proms and Wigmore Hall.

The National String Quartet Foundation, the Arts Council and RTÉ Lyric FM are supporting this tour.
